Granite is a natural stone, and therefore it is porous. The raw slabs from which we fabricate granite countertops are polished and resined. Some companies fabricate from slabs that are not resined, which might be cheaper, but usually more porous than the resined slabs. The porosity of the granite slabs also varies from the different colors of granite, since the different colors are a product of the location of the quarries from which they are extracted. Because granite is porous, it needs to be sealed every half a year to one year. Sealing is as easy as applying and wiping. Click here for information on how to seal your granite countertops.
